The tensile test shall be carried out in accordance with ISO 6892-1 or ASTM A3710.
For API 5L X70 pipe body tests, the yield strength, the tensile strength, the yield ratio (as appropriate), and the percentage elongation after fracture shall be determined. For pipe weld tests, the tensile strength shall be determined.
The API 5L X70 percentage elongation after fracture shall be reported with reference to a gauge length of 50mm (2 in). For test API 5L X70 pieces having a gauge length less than 50mm (2 in), the measured elongation after fracture shall be converted to a percentage elongation in 50mm (2 in) in accordance with ISO 2566-1 or ASTM A370.
