ASTM A519 4130 Seamless Pipes Features

2019-05-24 14:06:42

ASTM A519 4130 seamless pipe is a common alloy steel tubing. The steel used in the mechanical tubing may be cast in ingots or may be strand cast. When steel of different grades is sequentially strand cast, identification of the resultant transition material is required. The ASTM A519 4130 seamless tubing is a tubular product made without a welded seam. A519 4130 pipe has a yield strength of 90k to 100k psi and tensile strength of 110k to 120k psi. It’s high yield strength and high ultimate tensile strength gives you the muscle you need for the toughest jobs.

ASTM A519 4130 Seamless Pipes Features:

1. A519 4130 pipe has excellent strength-to-weight ratio and are considerably stronger and harder than standard 1026 tubing.
2. A519 4130 tubing has a relatively low carbon content so it welds and machines almost as easily as 1018 carbon steel tubing. That’s why 4130 tubing is often selected– for its blend of ductility, strength, weight and fabrication advantages.
3. Chromium containing: Chromoly is superior to mild carbon steel based on a strength to weight ratio, making it widely used in applications that require less weight but similar strength such as roll cages for race cars, high performance bicycle frames, and fuselages for aircrafts.
4. The strength and resilience of this ASME SA 519 4130 Alloy Steel Mechanical Tubing has led to their frequent use in high – rise building and bridge construction, as well as most vehicles, many home appliances, tools, pipes.

ASTM A519 4130 Seamless Pipes Heat Treatment:

Cold Working – As a result of its properties, cold working by conventional methods is common with this alloy.
Annealing – Furthermore, 4130 is annealable at 1550 F for a time long enough to allow thorough heating of the section size. However, it should be cooled in the furnace at a rate of less than 50 F per hour down to 900 F, followed by air cooling from 900 F.
Tempering – In addition, tempering is possible to restore the ductility that may have been lost after the hardening heat treatment and quench. Alloy 4130 is tempered at between 750 F and 1050 F depending upon strength desired. The lower the tempering temperature, the greater the strength.
