Boronizing can improve the corrosion resistance of 20CrMo steel pipe

Boronizing is a kind of chemical heat treatment technology ues in 20CrMo steel pipe, because the infiltrated layer has very high hardness and good wear resistance. The results show that the corrosion resistance of 20CrMo steel pipe after boronizing treatment has been greatly improved. After 3 ~ 5h solid boronizing of 20CrMo steel pipe, a uniform thickness boronizing layer can be formed on the 20CrMo steel pipe surface. The higher the boronizing temperature is, the thicker the boronizing layer is, the longer the time is, the longer the boronizing layer thickness is.

The boronizing layer is mainly composed of FeB and Fe2B, from the 20CrMo steel pipe surface to the interior is the FeB, Fe2B, transition layer and the matrix, and the layer is serrated embedded in the matrix metal, which greatly increases the adhesion with the matrix.

The wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the 20CrMo steel pipe surface treated by boronizing are greatly improved, and the microhardness of the boronized layer is very high, and the apparent microhardness value of the boriding layer is more than 2 ~ 3 times higher than that of the matrix structure.
